Kids Chance of North Carolina is proud to support the following students for the Fall 2016 Semester!

 

Olivia B. – Barton College

Attending Barton College, Olivia is working towards her degree in nursing with a minor in Psychology.  Olivia’s father suffers from injuries as a result of an electrical accident which occurred in 2004.  After completing her two year degree at Johnston County Community College, she was accepted to Barton College.

With determination and hard work driving her commitment, Olivia is working towards becoming a CNA.

Aaron B. – UNC Charlotte

Aaron’s father was the fire chief at Evans Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department.  While responding to a fire call in 2012, Aaron’s father was in a fatal vehicle accident.  A graduate from Purnell Sweet High School in Pembroke, NC, Aaron is a tremendous student.  Currently at UNC Charlotte, Aaron is majoring in athletic training and working towards becoming a physical therapist.

Hezekiah “Hezzy” H. – UNC Pembroke.

Hezzy’s father suffers from a traumatic brain injury as a result of an industrial accident.  Hezzy selected UNC Pembroke to be closer to home to help support his parents and two sisters. Hezzy is working towards a degree in Criminal Justice with with an emphasis on Chaplaincy. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree, he plans to enter Seminary at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Faces of Kids' Chance Badge

Learn more about Hezzy’s story and experience at UNC Pembroke through Faces of Kids Chance!  Together with the national organization Kids’ Chance of America, we are building a community where students, families and supporters of Kids’ Chance organizations in all states are working together to share successes and support awareness for our mission.

Keirra H. – UNC Greensboro

Kids Chance of North Carolina is proud to support Keirra H., whose father suffers from a catastrophic work related accident sustained in 1997.  A graduate of Warren New Tech High School, Keirra is entering her sophomore year at UNC – Greensboro with a focus on Chemistry and plans to become a Pharmacist.

Dustin K. – Impact University

Working towards a concentration in youth ministry, Kids Chance of North Carolina is proud to support Dustin K.. Dustin’s father, suffered from an on the job traumatic accident. As a result of the accident his father is faced with multiple system traumas including paraplegia.  A graduate of Ashe County High School, Dustin is attended Wilkes Community College and is now a student at Impact University. Dustin’s passion in life is to share his experience in an effort to help others facing similar tragedies.

Mara M. – Appalachian State University

Accepted into the Honors College at Appalachian State University, Mara is working towards her degree in Sociology, Criminology, Deviance and Law.  Her father suffers from a catastrophic work related injury sustained as a law enforcement officer.  A graduate from South Caldwell High School, Mara received several awards and recognition of achievement in high school and served as a member of Yosef Club.  She plans to continue her education into a career in Civil or Criminal law.

Cathryn M. – Gaston College

Kids Chance of North Carolina is proud to support Cathryn a Pre-Med student at Gaston College.  Her father, suffered from an on the job catastrophic accident at a steel fabrication plant leaving him unable to return to work. A single parent to Cathryn and her older sister, Mr. Michael is a committed to encouraging and providing emotional support to his children. With a focus on math and science, Cathryn was a 2013 graduate with honors from South Point High School in Belmont NC.

In addition to helping to care for her disabled father and older sister with special needs, Cathyrn volunteers for organizations such as Gaston Memorial Hospital and the Jr. Heart Board.

Kyal W. – Mars Hill College

Working towards a career in teaching, Kids’ Chance of North Carolina is proud to support Kyle Wyatt. Kyle’s father, a former North Carolina state trooper and highway patrolman, suffered from a catastrophic on-the-job accident in 2005.  An active student and athlete, with a love for basketball and baseball, Kyle graduated with honors from West Lincoln High School in Lincolnton, NC maintaining a 3.415 GPA.  Here is currently enrolled at Mars Hill College and is working towards a teaching degree with a focus on history.
